🤝 I Want to Volunteer
Apply to be a VolunteerIt's simple. Want to get involved? You can start today.
Lichenary is not just an environmental project — it's a community of young people choosing not to be spectators. They choose to observe, learn, and pass on knowledge.
🟢 What does a Lichenary volunteer do?
- Observe nature around (parks, streets, gardens, routes to school, etc.)
- Identify and photograph lichens found on trees, stones, or walls
- Fill out a digital form from their personal account, where they enter:
- 📍 Location of the observation
- 📸 Photo taken
- 🔎 Identified lichen species
- 🌫️ A rating from 1 to 10 reflecting how polluted the air is (1 = clean air, 10 = polluted air)
- Use a visual guide provided by Lichenary to correctly identify species and understand the pollution level each indicates
- Contribute to building a collaborative air quality map.
🧠 You don’t need:
- Advanced scientific knowledge
- Complicated equipment
- Previous experience in environmental projects
All you need is:
- Curiosity
- A decent phone camera
- Attention to detail
- The desire to do something for the air you breathe
📦 What will you receive?
- Access to a digital starter kit
- Visual guides for recognizing lichens
- Continuous support from the Lichenary team
- Opportunity to participate in Phase 2 of the project (GreenWave)
- A participation certificate at the end of the season
- And maybe the most valuable thing: a new way to see your city.
🕐 How long does it take?
You decide. You can participate:
- for a single weekend
- or you can become a regular contributor, monitoring how the air quality changes in your area month by month
It doesn’t matter how much you contribute. What matters is that you start.
